Errors and Omissions, Malpractice, Professional Liability
How Does E&O Insurance Work?
E&O insurance policies typically cover the costs of legal defense and any damages or settlements that arise from a claim of professional negligence. The specific terms and coverage limits of an E&O policy will vary depending on the profession and the insurance provider, but in general, these policies provide coverage for claims that arise from errors or omissions in professional services, such as:
- Mistakes in calculations, advice, or analysis
- Failure to meet professional standards or industry regulations
- Breach of contract or fiduciary duty
- Copyright or trademark infringement
- Negligence or misrepresentation
It’s important to note that E&O insurance typically only covers claims that arise from unintentional mistakes or oversights. If a professional acts deliberately or with malicious intent, their E&O insurance policy may not provide coverage.

Advertising Agents:
- Advertising agents create and execute advertising campaigns for clients, and any misleading or false advertising could lead to legal claims from consumers.
Agents and Brokers:
- Insurance agents and brokers help clients select insurance policies and manage their coverage, and any errors or oversights in their work could result in the client not having adequate coverage.
Agrologists:
- Agrologists provide advice and services related to agriculture and farming, and any mistakes or oversights in their work could have serious consequences for clients.
Appraisers:
- Appraisers evaluate the value of property or goods, and any errors or oversights in their appraisal could result in inaccurate valuations and financial losses for clients.
