VACANT PROPERTY INSURANCE
Unoccupied and Vacant Home InsuranceWe’ll Be There For You
Vacant Property Insurance
If you are going to leave your house or any other type of property vacant for more than a month, your insurance policy will likely not provide coverage for this scenario. In this case, you would need to purchase vacant property insurance. There is usually a stipulation in Standard Insurance that a property cannot be vacant for more than 30 days. The reasoning behind this is that a vacant home can attract trespassers or be a target for vandalism.
Furthermore, if there is a water pipe burst or any other type of sudden accident it would remain undetected in a vacant property and thus the damage will be much greater than it would be otherwise.
Purchasing vacant property insurance will provide you with coverage against fire, lightning, earthquakes, explosions, and aircraft. You can also purchase additional coverages that would cover any contents at the property as well.
The cost of vacant property insurance policy depends on a few factors.
How long will the property be vacant?
The reason for the property has remained vacant?
What is the plan for this property?
will there be any rebuilding or renovating?
Is the property secured?
Is it being looked after during the period that it is vacant?
Will the property be sold or rented?
